DPM Prak Sokhonn: “We Will Continue to Promote the ‘Women, Peace and Security’ Agenda”

PHNOM PENH: According to a Facebook post made by the Cambodian Foreign Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn, on Tuesday morning, Cambodia has deployed close to eight thousand peacekeepers to nine countries since 2006. Once a war-torn country, Cambodia is now firmly in the position of spreading peace worldwide.

Along with this achievement is the fact that women in Cambodia have greatly contributed to peacekeeping operations in other parts of the world, and DPM Prak Sokhonn affirmed that the “Women, Peace and Security” agenda would continue to be promoted.

He wrote, “We are also particularly proud that our women have contributed to peacekeeping operations in other parts of the world; and we will continue to promote the “Women, Peace and Security” agenda.”

In connection to this, the DPM further expressed his sincere congratulations to Lt. Col. Chea Maysaros, who was recently awarded the UN Medal for Force Commander Commendation, along with other recognitions, for her courage and determination while undergoing peacekeeping operations. She is currently deployed in South Sudan and earlier this year, she was also featured in the Women4Multilateralism campaign in Geneva.

“We are proud of you and many others who are fulfilling their noble mission for global peace and security,” added DPM Prak Sokhonn.
